Open meeting – January 2013

Happy New Year.

It’s our first meeting of 2013 this Thursday 18 January, 7.45pm as usual at the Earley Home Guard Social Club, Pitts Lane, Earley, Reading RG6 1B

Our guest this month is Ray Olivier, former FA Referees’ Manager, National List Referee and now Head of Education for PGMOL. Those of you that know Ray will know what an entertaining speaker he is and he is bringing along his very own take on the popular TV quiz programme, “Deal, or no deal?” It promises to be a great start to 2013.

We are also very pleased to welcome our old friend Albert Astbury from Eastleigh Referees Society and Paul Field from Bromsgrove Referees’ Association. Albert is currently acting as Chairman of the Board for the Referees’ Association, whilst Paul is acting as Treasurer. The national RA has been going through a period of upheaval and change and we are very lucky to have two such dedicated people helping lead us into a new era.

As usual, we will have our ‘Talking Point’ for anyone to bring up any interesting/unusual incident to share with the members.

The Christmas meeting was a great success with the remodelled raffle and a fine spread of food. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and it certainly made a change to have more of a purely ‘social’ evening.
