Charity Donations to Nairobi, Kenya
Referees, given the season of goodwill, this seems like the ideal time to look again at collating respective old and spare kits and refereeing tools, which we can donate to our friends and colleagues in Nairobi, courtesy of Stephen Smith and his connection with Reformers Sports and Community Services.
Please bring donations to our forthcoming open meetings on Thursday 19 December and Thursday 16 January, following which your donations will be packaged and sent.
We are very much committed in empowering and mentoring our youths. Today our referees Francis Maina, Stallon Maina, and Allan Makau all of them are below the age of 15 years. We say thank you to Stephen Smith and entire Reading Referees’ Association. #CommunitySupportingCommunity

Background, 2021 Donations
In one of the positive outcomes of social media, Reading RA member and Welfare Officer, Stephen Smith saw someone had posted in a referees group on Facebook sharing that they had some kit to give away. Stephen was also in contact with a gentleman named Erickson Roman Reins, who asked for kit for a lot of referees in Africa. From there, the ball got rolling.
Extending requests to RRA members for old and spare kit and footballing items to be donated to a sports charity in Nairobi, Kenya, Stephen collected the donations together, and Reading RA funded the delivery costs.
The photos below show our Kenyan colleagues proudly sporting their kit, and have been shared by Wango Michael, who is the founder of Reformers Sports and Community Services, a charity that uses the power of sports to help clothe, educate, and feed children and families living in poverty. Wango is also a coach and Sporting Director of Kayole FC; they play their games at the Cavalery Ground in Nairobi.
Erickson is now doing well and a member of the Kenyan Armed Forces.
